14-15 December 2023 Bali, Indonesia
Emerging technologies and innovations, such as connected devices, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, are being applied across core insurance business functions to improve the delivery of insurance coverage to policyholders. These technologies can also contribute to encouraging policyholder risk reduction by improving insurance companies' capacity to assess risk, leading to more accurate pricing, improved risk signals and better risk reduction advice.
The purpose of this Roundtable is to discuss the findings from an OECD project on leveraging technology for risk assessment and risk reduction in insurance. The discussion will focus on:
- Understanding the benefits of new technology adoption in insurance and potential regulatory challenges
- Creating and enabling environment for technology adoption in insurance
- Addressing emerging risks from technology adoption
The Roundtable will serve as a platform to launch and discuss the forthcoming OECD report on leveraging technology for risk assessment and risk reduction in insurance, which examines potential technology applications, challenges to adoption and good practices for creating an enabling environment that supports the use of technology in risk assessment and encouring risk reduction.
The roundtable will bring together high-level government officials from regulatory and supervisory authorities and ministries of finance, representatives from international organisations and standard setting bodies as well as experts from the insurance sector.
In addition, a meeting for regulators and supervisors will be held on the morning of 15 December to discuss outcomes and possible themes and topics for future work/collaboration (invitation only).
This event is co-hosted by the OECD and Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), with sponsorship from the Government of Japan. It also provides a contribution to Indonesia's Presidency of ASEAN.
