The OECD Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia has launched a project to support strengthening Uzbekistan’s legal and institutional capacity to efficiently investigate and prosecute complex corruption cases and enhance its implementation of Istanbul Anti-Corruption Action Plan recommendations.
This high-level meeting will be organised for the first time in the Eurasia region, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This event creates an opportunity to further strengthen relations between the countries of the region and the OECD and serves as a platform for a discussion on a broad spectrum of thematic issues relevant to further improving the region’s competitiveness.
Uzbekistan has adopted its first anti-corruption action plan and established an anti-corruption coordination commission. Nevertheless corruption is widespread in Uzbekistan and remains a key obstacle for business.
The EAP Task Force will discuss contributions to the 2016 “Environment for Europe” Ministerial Conference, ongoing work on access to private finance for green investments in Ukraine, recent work on creating market incentives for greener products, and the work plan for 2016. It will also review activities carried out in framework of the EU Water Initiative, and the future work plan on strengthening water management policies in EECCA.
