NEPAD/OECD Conference on Alliances for Integrity – Government and Business Roles in Enhancing African Standards of Living

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 7-8 March 2005

Organised in the context of the OECD/NEPAD Investment Initiative, this Conference on Alliances for Integrity – Government and Business Roles in Enhancing African Standards of Living was jointly organised by the OECD, NEPAD, the UN Global Compact and Transparency International and took place on 7-8 March 2005 at the UN Economic Commission for Africa facilities, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The conference gathered representatives of private companies, senior government officials from OECD and NEPAD countries and representatives of international organisations and of the civil society. The discussions focused on two topics, namely:

  • The emerging integrity framework for Africa; and
  • The business perspectives on integrity and transparency in the African context.

The conference provided inputs to the further exploration of what the OECD, UN and African Union transparency instruments mean for improving the African investment climate and raising the well-being of its people.
