    Community Education and Training in South Africa

    Adult learning systems play a crucial role in helping people adapt to the changing world of work and develop relevant skills. Community Education and Training has been brought forward as a possible way to foster adult learning in South Africa, especially among disadvantaged groups. South Africa has a relatively large group of adults who have low levels of education and skills, and limited opportunities for skills development. This report looks at the potential role that Community Education and Training could play in South Africa, how the system should be financed, how to align the training offer with community needs, and how to ensure high-quality provision. The report provides international good practise examples and suggests actions that South African stakeholders might consider to develop the Community Education and Training system.

    Estimating Publicly-Mobilised Private Finance for Climate Action: A South African Case Study - Environment Working Paper

    This study analyses publicly-mobilised private finance for climate action in South Africa, between 2010 and 2015. The mobilisation effect of public climate finance on private finance is estimated through an analysis and attribution of project-level co-finance data. A pilot-methodology then expands the analysis to also incorporate the mobilisation effect of financial support in two sectors: renewable energy and energy efficiency.

    Les réformes menées au cours des deux dernières décennies ont abouti à un système fiscal équilibré et moderne. Toutefois, des recettes considérables vont s’avérer nécessaires dans les années à venir pour renforcer les dépenses sociales et les infrastructures afin de favoriser la croissance et le bien-être. Toute la difficulté consistera à trouver ces recettes sans peser sur la croissance ni exacerber les inégalités.
