The conference brought together policy makers, experts and practitioners to discuss the importance of creativity and critical thinking in OECD economies and societies – and how students can acquire these skills in school.

Participants discussed:

• The findings and lessons of a 4-year OECD project on how to foster and assess creativity and critical thinking in primary and secondary education
• The support that teachers require to innovate their pedagogies and monitor students’  learning of creativity and critical thinking
• Next steps to advance creativity and critical thinking in education, including PISA 2021 “creative thinking” assessment
• Current and upcoming international initiatives in this area
