Strengthening democracy through more participatory, responsive and transparent rule-making

Over the past years, social and geopolitical tensions, economic inequality, and increasing mis- and disinformation have posed challenges to democracy. Overcoming these challenges requires a collective effort to reinforce democratic institutions, promote civil society engagement in decision-making, and tackle underlying social and economic disparities that can undermine democratic values. The 14th OECD Measuring Regulatory Performance Conference brought together experts and practitioners to discuss the role of regulatory policy in strengthening democracy, addressing today's challenges, and exploring ways to enhance democracy through regulatory measures.
