Corporate governance of state-owned enterprises

Task Force on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises in the MENA Region

1 March 2010 - Paris, France

The MENA-OECD Task Force on Corporate Governance of SOEs convened on 1 March 1 2010 in Paris.  The focus of the meeting was on two corporate governance reform topics that task force members identified as priorities for SOEs in the region:

  • transparency and accountability
  • selection and quality of SOE boards

The task force was set up in 2008 to address the corporate governance priorities and challenges faced by SOEs in the region. The task force comprises representatives from holding companies, state audit institutions, relevant Ministries overseeing the operation and performance of SOEs, regulatory authorities, and individual SOEs.

This meeting was jointly organised by the OECD with the Hawkamah Institute of Corporate Governance and support from the Global Corporate Governance Forum. It took place back-to-back with the meeting of the Global Network on Privatisation and Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises on 2-3 March.
