Wider Application and Diffusion of Bioremediation Technologies: The Amsterdam '95 Workshop

In the effort to palliate the effects of global pollution, new methods are receiving closer attention. Bioremediation -- the use of micro-organisms to treat pollution -- is quickly becoming a method of choice. This "green" technology exploits the forces of nature and is more versatile, making it more widely applicable than traditional methods. However, further advances will depend on better scientific understanding and on appropriate public policy.

This publication brings together the contributions of more than 100 international experts and policy makers on the diffusion and industrial application of bioremediation technologies for air and soil. The Amsterdam Workshop provides valuable insights into how to translate environmental problems and liabilities into business opportunities. Essential reading for both scientists and businessmen interested in bioremediation.
