Effective Public Communication for an Inclusive Response and Recovery from Covid-19

Online conference, 9 December 2020

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the important role for effective and inclusive public communication to put citizens and stakeholders at the heart of the crisis response and future recovery. This conference brought together leaders from government and civil society to share their experiences and lessons for strengthening and innovating public communication to better serve as an instrument for policy and open government.

This international online conference was jointly organised by the OECD, the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST), and the Korean Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy Management. It included a first session on innovative practices in public communication emerging from the pandemic response, including a presentation of insights from the OECD Survey of over 45 countries for the upcoming report Public Communication: The Global Context and the Way Forward (2021).

The second session brought together stakeholders from across sectors in a conversation on collaboration and partnerships that support an open communication and information ecosystem that can help combat disinformation and foster constructive policy debate and participation for a whole-of-society response and recovery from Covid-19.
