Invitation to OECD event at the World Water Forum - 17 March

 

10/03/2009 - The OECD will release a new report – Managing Water for All: Pricing and Financing – at an event during the World Water Forum in Istanbul.

 

Emphasising the economic, social and environmental benefits of investing in water and sanitation, the report includes information about the agricultural uses of water, financing water supply and sanitation, water pricing, private sector participation in the water sector and aid flows to water.

 

The event will be lead by OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría. Mr. Gurría is a member of the Advisory Board of UNSGAB. He has also served as a member of the Camdessus Panel and lead the Gurría Taskforce on Financing Water for All. He will be joined by Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council; Maria Mutagamba, Ugandan Minister for Water and Environment; Hasan Z. Sarikaya, Undersecretary, Turkish Ministry of the Environment and Forestry; and Gérard Payen, Chair of the Finance Group of UNSGAB and President of AquaFed. They will release and discuss the report at 8:30 – 10:30, Tuesday 17 March, Kagithane Hall, Sütlüce Congress and Cultural Centre (Istanbul - Turkey).
