In 2010, in Togo, young people (15-35 years) accounted for 36% of the total population, more than half of whom were women and living in rural areas. Many of them are exposed to risk factors that threaten their development and well-being. In the area of health, early pregnancy is a major concern in the country. With regard to education, the situation is characterized by a high rate of school drop-out. This phenomenon is particularly remarkable in rural areas and among young girls. Concerning access to employment, the share of young people aged 15-29 who are not in school, neither in training nor in employment, NEET, has increased. Similarly, the informal employment rate for young people remains high.

Faced with this situation, several policy measures, projects and programs have been set up with the aim of promoting youth employment, combating unemployment and encouraging the development of youth. Almost all of these programs are implemented or monitored by the ministerial department in charge of youth and youth employment.

Togo: National training on Monitoring and Evaluation, 21-23 November 2017, Lomé

As part of the capacity building objective of the project, a training workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of policies and programmes targeting youth was organised in Lomé from November 21 to 23, 2017.

On 28 September 2016, the OECD Development Center in partnership with the Ministry of Grassroots Development, Crafts, Youth, and Youth Employment, and the Delegation of the European Union (DUE) organized a workshop to review the first findings of the Youth Inclusion project.
