KYRGYZSTAN, JUNE 2018. The launch of the EU SPS report “Social Protection System Review of Kyrgyzstan” was held in Bishkek on June 13 with the collaboration of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development. The event was attended by approximately 30 participants and consisted of opening remarks delivered by the Minister of Labour Taal Aigul Isakunova, a presentation of the report’s key findings by OECD economist Alexander Pick, and a presentation on the nation’s new social protection strategy by representatives of the Government of Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, the following day the EU-SPS team was invited to present the report at the Ministry to 40 government officials including Lunara Mamytova and Zhyldyz Polotova, deputy ministers for labour and social development, and Kanybek Adiev, state secretary. Following the launch, the report will be translated into Russian and presented to parliament and executive bodies working on social protection.
