The Second Meeting of the OECD Global Forum on VAT took place on 17-18 April 2014 in Tokyo during which Governments endorsed the new OECD Guidelines on applying VAT across borders. |
The first Regional Conference on VAT/GST was held on 22-23 May 2013 in Singapore, reaching out to 120 delegates from 18 countries. The Conference, was jointly organised by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) and the OECD and was hosted by the Tax Academy of Singapore. Leading taxexperts from both the public and private sectors shared insights and experiences with the global and regional developments in VAT/GST, in particular the OECD International VAT/GST Guidelines. The Conference enabled a most beneficial exchange of views among the participants emphasising the pivotal role that the Guidelines are likely to play for OECD and partner countries as the work continues to be progressed.

The First Meeting of the OECD Global Forum on VAT which took place at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris in November 2012 confirmed the need for an international standard on the VAT-treatment of international trade.
