Competition

From Globalisation to Regionalisation

 7  December 2023  | 09.30-13.00 CETParis, France

THE 2023 OECD GLOBAL FORUM ON COMPETITION OPENS WITH THE TOPIC "FROM GLOBALISATION TO REGIONALISATION"

Competition is not a one-size-fits-all concept and can vary significantly across different regions around the world. This session examined whether there is an increasing emphasis on regional competition interests, potentially hampering efforts to the detriment of globalisation. The 2023 OECD Global Forum on Competition explored how competition is evolving and considers the different perspectives about competition in each region.

In addition, the session also looked towards the future, discussing the potential impacts of evolving global trends on regional competition dynamics. The session tried to answer the following questions:

  • What are the factors and dynamics influencing competition in different regions and what are the implications for the development of effective competition frameworks?
  • What are the divergent perceptions and attitudes towards competition?
  • To what extent do regional competition policies prioritize local or regional interests?
  • Looking ahead, how might evolving global trends, such as digital technologies or changing trade dynamics, shape the future of competition in different regions?
