The presence of foreign residents in Italy is now a consolidated phenomenon that continues to increase annually both in absolute and relative terms. The distribution of foreign citizens across the country is uneven: as is known, most immigrants are concentrated in central and northern Italy. As a matter of fact, the various foreign communities show different models of settlement. In the study spatial analysis measures have been used to synthesize the peculiarities and the evolution of the territorial distribution of the principal foreign communities during the last 10 years. The territorial distribution of foreigners is the result of the international and internal migrations dynamics. The techniques of network analysis and graphical network representations have been exploited to provide a summary indication of migration networks for the most relevant foreign communities.
