Context
This meeting was co-convened by the OECD and the UK Climate Change Committee. It brought together members of the OECD Task Force on Climate Change Adaptation (TFCCA) and international experts working on adaptation measurement. The TFCCA members are policy makers from OECD member and non-member countries as well as experts from other leading organisations working on climate change adaptation. The TFCCA assists the OECD Secretariat in delivering projects in support of strengthening countries’ resilience to climate change and climate variability. The TFCCA seeks to promote concrete solutions and develop policy guidance on climate change adaptation.
The UK Climate Change Committee is an independent statutory body which advises the UK and devolved governments on emissions targets and reports to Parliament on progress made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
Objectives
This meeting was organised as part of an ongoing OECD programme of work that aims at assisting countries in advancing their adaptation measurement practices and supporting them in the development of appropriate and useful adaptation indicators. It provided an opportunity for experts from countries and other organisations to share experiences and discuss progress and challenges in developing measurement frameworks and instruments. It informed ongoing OECD work on the topic.
