Adaptation to climate change

Context

The OECD Task Force on Climate Change Adaptation convened a thematic meeting in complement to the second meeting of the TFCCA (30 November 2020), the Working Party on Climate, Investment and Development (1 December 2020) and the Working Party on Biodiversity, Water and Ecosystems (1&2 March 2021) to discuss the OECD draft report on “Scaling up nature-based solutions (NbS) to address water-related climate risks: insights from country experiences” [ENV/EPOC/WPCID(2021)2].

The draft report brings together the findings from the OECD’s work on NbS, especially the insights from the country case studies carried out in Mexico and the United Kingdom. Applying the OECD policy framework released last year, the draft report aims to better understand the use of NbS in the particular context of water-related climate risks and to identify the potential institutional, policy or financial hurdles that NbS practitioners might be confronted with. The ultimate goal of the project is to propose a set of recommendations to support the more systemic consideration and integration of NbS in the mix of tools and measures used to address water-related risks.

Objectives 

   -  Present the preliminary findings of the OECD work on “Scaling up nature-based solutions (NbS) to address water-related climate risks: insights from country experiences”;
   - Give participants an opportunity to comment on the report and draft conclusions;
   - Facilitate an exchange of experiences among representatives from countries and organisations.
