The Global Forum aims to promote an integrated view on the future of curriculum design and implementation, building on outputs from the OECD Future of Education and Skills 2030 project as well as other OECD bodies, participating countries, and other international/regional organisations and identify approaches, which work to overcome obstacles to change.

It also aims to promote knowledge creation (e.g. through research, survey and data collection, and analysis) and co-operation through peer learning and self-reflection, as well as dissemination of the new knowledge created by the project.

It provides a venue for experts from educational stakeholder communities to exchange their views and identify emerging issues and potential strategies for managing/addressing those issues.

It positions the OECD as the forum for international co-operation and dialogue on the future of education and skills, as well as on curriculum design and implementation.

1. Our Global Forum is a multi-stakeholder group aiming to create new knowledge to inform policy makers by working together (e.g. filling in the research gap), not a negotiation table.
2. Our Global Forum is a working group - participants are not consumers of our meeting but expected to contribute. Your voice matters. We want you to engage in tasks (thematic working groups) and discussions.
3. Our Global Forum is a global community - participants are eexpected to respect different views/perspectives of other countries, jurisdictions and cultures.
4. Our Global Forum is a future-oriented group and uses an innovative working method for an OECD project.
5. Our Global Forum shares the vision and aspiration to support today's students to be able to shape a better future towards well-being of individuals, others and the planet.

Focus Group 1 (FG1)

• Representatives nominated/appointed by national governments (e.g. representatives from national or local governments, government-related agencies, or researchers) with responsibilities in education; they can invite relevant sectors (e.g. education financing, science and technologies, etc.) to contribute to meaningful discussions on curriculum design and implementation, when topic of the Global Forum meetings are relevant to these sectors.

Focus Group 2 (FG2)

• Priority members: Teachers & school leaders from school networks, teacher educators & student teachers, from teacher education institutions, nominated by an FG1 member country or self-nominated and reviewed by the secretariat upon consultation with FG1 members (whenever relevant); Local government representatives (e.g. superintendents, school board representative etc.) with responsibilities in the education or relevant sectors if nominated/appointed by national government to join this group instead of FG1.
• Other members: International organisations, social partners, thought leaders, and academic experts directly involved in relevant areas of the work of the OECD Future of Education and Skills 2030 project, e.g. in the field of education policy, in particular research and innovation on curriculum design and implementation; Foundations, private companies directly working with schools/education providers and contributing to knowledge creation on curriculum innovations, developing supporting materials and tools etc. These foundations and private companies are either recommended by an FG1 member country and/or self-nominated, indicating specific interest in the participation of a Global Forum meeting, including an assessment of relevance by AG members (based on a pre-screening by the OECD Secretariat).

Focus Group 3 (FG3)

• By definition secondary education level students, nominated by an FG1 member country, by an FG2 member or by an international student representative body who can contribute and add value to the project by sharing students’ perspective on and experiences with the curriculum. Students in post-secondary education may remain in FG3 until they have completed two years as long as they can continue to contribute actively based on their school curriculum experiences.
• Alumni: Those who have participated in FG3 and have been out of secondary school for more than two years may participate in the FG3 alumni group. Their contributions include supporting, mentoring and coaching FG3 members, in particular new FG3 members, as well as creating new knowledge with other FGs by bringing in their unique perspectives on and new insights into how their school curriculum experiences have prepared them for life after secondary school. 

• Meet the FG3 members who have served as Student Advisory Group (SAG) representatives. SAG was created by students to help facilitate communication between the OECD Secretariat and the student stakeholder group and to strengthen student engagement in the OECD Future of Education and Skills 2030 project.
