Ambassador of Morocco to France visits the OECD Secretary General

 

On 17 January 2007, His Excellency Fathallah Sijilmassi, Ambassador of Morocco to France paid a high level visit to the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mr. Angel Gurría. His Excellency Fathallah Sijilmassi and Mr. Gurría discussed the relationship between the OECD and Morocco and common projects in the areas of investment, good governance, employment and migration. Morocco has been actively cooperating with the OECD since 2004 within the framework of the OECD MENA Initiative on Governance and Investment for Development.

A number of regional and country-specific activities are currently being jointly planned with the Moroccan government in the framework of the Governance for Development (GfD) in Arab Countries Initiative. Morocco has offered to host a regional capacity-building seminar on performance management of public servants in spring 2007. To support the implementation of its country action plan, Morocco has also envisaged a feasibility study for creating a regional centre for policy evaluation in Morocco and a peer-review of its e-government strategy. In summer 2007, Morocco is planning to host a regional workshop on administrative simplification procedures for regulatory transparency. In winter 2007, Morocco will possibly host a regional senior budget officials meeting on the use of performance information in budgeting.
