Gains in female education attainment have contributed to a worldwide increase in women’s participation in the labour force, but considerable gaps remain in working hours, conditions of employment and earnings. More specific data for South Africa are available in this country note.

Monetary aggregate indices presented are Narrow money (M1) and Broad money (M3). They are calculated as averages of the monthly figures. For all countries which do not provide data corresponding to the average for the month, estimates of monthly levels have been made using end of previous and current month figures. This report provides Members with an update on the Enhanced Engagement process. Enhanced Engagement is the result of a decision by the Council at Ministerial level in May 2007 “to invite the Secretary-General to strengthen OECD co-operation with Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and South Africa through Enhanced Engagement programmes with a view to possible membership.”

In 2007, South Africa signed up to the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention and joined the Working Group on Bribery in International Business Transactions, a group made up of representatives from all 38 signatory countries which monitors the convention's implementation and enforcement.
