Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes

Global Forum organises two virtual events to support the effective implementation of the Standard for Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information in Tax Matters

09/02/2023 - The Secretariat of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum) has developed a Model Administrative Compliance Strategy in order to assist jurisdictions in developing, improving and implementing their own administrative compliance strategy to ensure the effectiveness of the Standard for Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information in Tax Matters (AEOI). To further assist jurisdictions committed to AEOI to implement its Model Administrative Compliance Strategy in practice, the Global Forum Secretariat organised two virtual experience-sharing events on:

  • 6 February 2023, with 304 delegates from 89 jurisdictions, focusing on co-operation with AEOI partners

  • 9 February 2023, with 346 delegates from 87 jurisdictions, focusing on AEOI risk assessment.

During the events, experts from Germany, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Luxembourg, Mauritius and Spain shared their experience. The Global Forum Secretariat had previously produced a Common Reporting Standard (CRS) Notification tracking tool available on demand to all interested jurisdiction in English, French and Spanish.

As part of its Strategy to unleash the potential of AEOI for developing countries, the Global Forum Secretariat is developing toolkits and e-learning courses to facilitate the implementation of the AEOI standard. The Model Strategy and the CRS Notification Tracking tool complement the Toolkit for the Implementation of the Standard for Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information released in 2021. Both documents are available on demand to members of the Global Forum in English, French and Spanish.

The Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement both the exchange of information on request standard and the standard of automatic exchange of information. These objectives are achieved through a robust monitoring and peer review process. The Global Forum also runs an extensive capacity-building programme to support its members in implementing the standards and help tax authorities make the best use of cross-border information sharing channels.
