Nadine Burquel

 

 

Nadine Burquel is Secretary-General of ESMU, the European Centre for Strategic Management of Universities (www.esmu.be) and the director of the EU-funded EU-Drivers regional innovation platform. She is directing the ESMU-HUMANE Winter School for senior administrators, the MODERN European platform on higher education modernisation and an Erasmus Mundus project  European Higher Education Study Tours for senior leaders for the US/Canada, Latin America and Australia. She has been involved in European initiatives that promote strategic developments in universities, working with HE leaders on leadership, governance and management issues.  She has expertise on strategies for university-enterprise co-operation, lifelong learning, knowledge transfer and regional innovation. She has directed European projects on these thematic areas and contributed to publications, reports and handbooks, including a recent handbook on benchmarking in European higher education which builds on the experience from a benchmarking group on university-enterprise cooperation which she has directed. She has been involved in consultation exercises of the European Commission on EU policy and programme development and has been on stakeholders and expert groups. She has worked with universities in the extended Europe, Russia, Latin America, the US and Australia. She has been a trainer in UNESCO-IIEP virtual courses on university-enterprise co-operation for universities in South-East Asia, Africa and the South-East Mediterranean region.
