Joseph Mifsud is the President of the Euro-Mediterranean University, located in Slovenia. EMUNI is a University consisting up of more than two hundred academic institutions from the Union for the Mediterranean which aim to enhance the co-operation between Mediterranean higher education institutions, contribute to the intercultural dialogue, stimulate the mobility of professors and students and develop a challenging and innovative teaching and learning environment. Study programmes are carried out at several universities of the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI). He also contributed to the establishment of  the Euro-Mediterranean Professional School where participants study Euro-Mediterranean issues and gain international and intercultural experience. He has worked and taught extensively in a number of Universities and countries in the Mediterranean and further afield.  He has also served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta and represented Malta in the Bologna Process, the Council of Europe, the EU Technical Committees in Research and Higher Education.
