Jerónimo Pachón is the Director of the Strategic Plan on Research, Development, and Innovation in Health at the Regional Ministry of Health of Andalusia. He is also the Chair of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Preventive Medicine in the University Hospital Virgen del Rocío, Professor of Medicine at the University of Seville and the scientific co-ordinator of the Spanish Network for the Research in Infectious Diseases, Health Institute Carlos III. He has a PhD from the University of Seville and has undertaken research in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Mayo Clinic in the United States. His research areas are the infections caused by multi-resistant bacteria from the clinical, pathogenic, therapeutic, and preventive perspectives. He has been author of many scientific contributions in the field of infectious diseases and his work has been recognised by Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology in 2010.
