Co-hosted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the OECD, with the sponsorship of the Government of Japan, this seminar took place in Mactan, Cebu, on 11-12 September 2012.
Building on internationally recognised standards developed by the OECD and the International Network on Financial Education (INFE), discussions addressed the needs of countries looking to develop effective and coordinated financial education programmes with a particular focus on the Asian region. Specifically:

This event brought together high-level officials and experts from central banks and officials of state governments, the private sector, academia and non-governmental organisations from OECD, South East Asia/ASEAN and APEC countries.
The Asian Seminar was followed back-to-back by the Third OECD Asian Roundtable on the Role of Central Banks in Financial Literacy and Inclusion on 12 September 2012 (afternoon session, for central banks only).
