Global Forum Secretariat supports Egypt in strengthening its confidentiality and data protection framework

04/01/2023 - A delegation from the Secretariat of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum) visited Cairo from 18 to 21 December 2022 to support Egypt in strengthening its confidentiality and data protection framework.

Confidentiality and data safeguards are critical requirements for exchange of information between tax administrations around the world. It includes a strong information security management (ISM) framework to ensure the information exchanged under an international agreement is adequately protected. To support continuous improvement in information-security risk management, the Global Forum’s ISM advisors provide technical support to member jurisdictions. In this context, they met with key stakeholders to provide guidance and support on the ISM framework in place within the Egyptian Tax Administration.

The Global Forum's technical assistance programme to Egypt is funded by the European Union.

The Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement both the exchange of information on request standard and the standard of automatic exchange of information. These objectives are achieved through a robust monitoring and peer review process. The Global Forum also runs an extensive capacity-building programme to support its members in implementing the standards and help tax authorities make the best use of cross-border information sharing channels.
