Global Forum delivers exchange of information training for Egyptian tax auditors

08/12/2022 - Within the framework of the technical assistance programme for Egypt, funded by the European Union, 16 tax auditors and tax investigators from the Egyptian Tax Authority met in Cairo, from 22 to 24 November 2022, for a three-day seminar organised by the Secretariat of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum). This training also counted with the participation, as panelists, of two Egyptian officials trained under the Global Forum’s Train the Trainer programme, which seeks to create and support a highly skilled network of trainers who effectively adapt and multiply the acquired knowledge and skills domestically.

The seminar encouraged participants to consider all the opportunities of international co-operation for tax purposes contained in exchange of information agreements, with a specific focus on the exchange of information on request. It helped participants understand the key concepts and requirements of cross-border exchange of information and to practice them through case studies.

The Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement both the exchange of information on request standard and the standard of automatic exchange of information. These objectives are achieved through a robust monitoring and peer review process. The Global Forum also runs an extensive capacity-building programme to support its members in implementing the standards and help tax authorities make the best use of cross-border information sharing channels.
