This report puts forward a comprehensive policy strategy for greater gender equality in the region’s rural areas. Following an overview of the evidence about the size of the women labour market in rural areas, it provides a discussion of the policies to reduce the barriers that prevent an equal access by men and women to quality jobs and to starting new businesses.
This publication presents the regional economic monitor, depicting the economic outlook and macroeconomic challenges. This edition also provided a special focus on financing sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The OECD and Southeast Asia
For over 25 years, the OECD and Southeast Asia have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship, fostering policy dialogue and disseminating good practices and mutual learning in areas such as investment, education, inclusiveness, sustainable infrastructures, good governance, access to markets, and fiscal policy. The OECD Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP), launched in 2014, has been instrumental in strengthening OECD co-operation with this dynamic region.
Today, Indonesia has commenced the accession process to become a Member of the Organisation and the Thailand Country Programme was established in 2018. All ten ASEAN countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam) participate in OECD committees, working groups, peer reviews and studies.
