She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid. She is an expert in Gender equality issues.

She has worked as a journalist in several Spanish media such as “La Ser”, “Diario de Cádiz” and “Diario la Opinión” from Murcia. She has also collaborated in relevant gender equality magazines such as “Meridiana” published by the Andalusian Institute for Women.

From 1993 to 1997 she was Head of Cabinet of Andújar’s City Council (Jaén).

From 1997 to 2000 she was appointed the Socialist Party’s (PSOE) Federal Coordinator for the Participation of Women and was also during this period the PSOE’s representative at the Socialist International Women.

In 2000, after the PSOE’s 35st Federal Party Congress and having actively participated in the “Nueva Vía Group”, she joined the PSOE’s Secretary General Cabinet where she performed duties as institutional and social policy advisor.

Since 1997, she has taken part, as well, in many Political Training Courses for political leaders in Spain and Latin America.

From 2004 to 2008 she worked as Senior Adviser for the Spanish Government’s First Deputy President.

In April 2008 she was appointed Secretary General for Equality Policies at the Spanish Ministry for Equality.
