Born on 26 December 1955 in Suwałki.

 

Education:

Graduated in 1980 from the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of University of Lódź and obtained the master degree in sociology.

 

In 1994, completed postgraduate studies in management at Warsaw School of Economics.

 

Employment:

On 21 November 2007 Ms Ostrowska was appointed Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, where she is responsible for labour market issues and the implementation of European Social Fund.

She has been dealing with the issues of labour market since 1990, when she started work in Voivodeship Office in Suwałki, in the Voivodeship Labour Office.
In 1991, she became Head of the Office. From 1993 to 1998 she was employed in the National Labour Office at the positions of Head of the Voivodeship Labour Office in Suwałki (1993-1995), Deputy President of the National Labour Office (1995-1997) and Senior Specialist (1998).

 

Between 1999 and 2007 (until 30.01), Ms Ostrowska worked in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, among others as Head of the Office for Rural Areas and Agriculture, Deputy Head of the Office for Regional Policy and Self-Governments, as well as Expert in the Team of President Counsellors. Her task was also to lead the Team for Labour Market and Unemployment Monitoring in the Chancellery.


In 2007, Ms Ostrowska started work in the Implementing Body of EU Programmes for Mazowieckie Voivodeship as Deputy Director of the Operational Programme Human Resources Development.

 

Other qualifications:

From 1991 to 2004, Ms Ostrowska participated in numerous trainings and seminars in the field of labour market policy and social policy, as well as organisation of and managing labour market institutions, methods for combating unemployment, methods of labour market analysis, rural development and European Union funds. The trainings were organised, inter alia, in German Federal Labour Office (Nuremberg), Ministry of Labour of the Kingdom of Belgium (Brussels), Ministry of Labour of the United Kingdom, US Department of Labor and European Institute in Łódź.

 

In 1999-2000, she participated in a year-long training organised jointly by the Office of the Committee for European Integration and Luiss Libera Universita Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli in Rome, covering European Union issues (EU institutions, policies, organisations and funds).

 

In 2001, Ms Ostrowska was granted the right to fulfil the function of supervisory board member in companies of the State Treasury.

 

Social activities:

Peasant movement activist since 1985.  Former member of Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe (United People’s Party). Member of Polskie  Stronnictwo Ludowe (Polish Peasants' Party).

 

Interests:

Sailing (sailing instructor of Polski Związek Żeglarski – Polish Sailing Association), literature, tourism..
