International Social Security Association (ISSA), Errol Frank Stoové, President

 

Errol Frank Stoové, born in 1947 in Surabaya, Indonesia, graduated in International and European Social Security Law from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. Mr. Stoové
was elected as the 15th President of the ISSA in 2010. Mr. Stoové has been Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of the Netherlands Social Insurance Bank (SVB) since 2002.

 

After completing his military service, his professional career started in 1974, as a policy officer for migration affairs at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Welfare (CRM) in The Hague. From 1976 to 1987, he was successively appointed Executive Secretary of the Director General of Social Development, Head of the Department for Welfare of Foreign Citizens, and Head of the Principal Department for Cultural Minorities of the Ministry.


From 1987 to 1995, Mr. Stoové was Director of Welfare, Social Affairs and Public Health for the City of Haarlem. From 1995 to 2002, he was Director General of the Netherlands Organization for the reception and guidance of asylum seekers and refugees from all over the world. 

 

In the ISSA, Mr. Stoové has served as a Titular Delegate, Chairperson of the ISSA Technical Commission on Organization, Management and Innovation, and Chairperson of the ISSA European Network for two years.


During his career, Mr. Stoové has represented the government of the Netherlands on many occasions, including at ILO meetings, the Council of Europe, the European Union, the International Red Cross, and bilateral meetings in Europe, Africa, USA and South-East Asia. Mr. Stoové also holds positions on the Boards of several voluntary, charitable and social organizations.
