Dr. Luis Castillo Fuenzalida is a Physician Surgeon who graduated at the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Chile (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) and obtained a Master in Anaesthesiology at the same University. He obtained a Diploma on Intensive Medicine by the University of Geneva and a Diploma on Business Administration by the University Adolfo Ibáñez, Chile.

At the time he is appointed Viceministry he was the Chief Medical of the Critical Patients Center of the Universidad Católica Hospital.

In his career are highlighted his positions as Medical Director of the Healthcare Network of the Catholic University of Chile (2000-2008), Chief Medical of Surgical Room, Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care services at the Hospital Mutual de Seguridad of the Chilean Construction Chamber; as long as Medical Director and Chief of Intensive Surgical Care Unit in the Catholic University Hospital.
