Monitoring investment and trade measures

30TH REPORT ON G20 INVESTMENT MEASURES

18/12/2023 – The OECD and UNCTAD Monitoring Report on investment measures shows that during the reporting period, G20 members made few adjustments to their investment policies, confirming a longer-time trend in this area. The attention to the security implications of FDI in G20 economies – and beyond – which has been increasing since 2017, remains high. Measures to manage potential security implications of FDI constitute again a significant share of the policy changes taken in the reporting period.

Published at 6-monthly intervals since 2009, these reports respond to the mandate from the G20 that OECD and UNCTAD monitor and publicly report on the commitments made by G20 countries not to introduce new barriers to trade and investment. They form part of wider reports on G20 trade and investment measures jointly published by the OECD, WTO and UNCTAD.

G20 trade and investment measures: OECD-WTO-UNCTAD reports

The leaders of the G20, which comprises the world’s largest economies, are firmly committed to open trade and investment and to resisting protectionism in all its forms. They have mandated WTO, OECD and UNCTAD – the leading international organisations in the area of international trade and investment policies – to monitor policy developments and report publicly on these commitments.
