7th General Meeting of the Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia

 

Tbilisi, Georgia, 25-27 June 2008
The 7th General Meeting of the Anti-Corruption Network and the ACN Steering Group meeting took place in Tbilisi in June 2008. Discussions focused on the following issues:

  • international anti-corruption conventions and monitoring mechanisms
  • the role of business in preventing and fighting corruption;
  • investigation and prosecution of complex and high level corruption cases;
  • prevention of corruption: management of conflict of interest and asset declarations for public officials;
  • public support for fighting corruption.

A special session was dedicated to the recent experience of Georgia in fighting corruption. Participants discussed and endorsed a draft proposal for the procedure and questionnaire for the second round of monitoring of the Istanbul Action Plan.

This event was attended by more than 110 participants representing national governments, civil society, donors, and international organisations active throughout the region. The meeting was hosted by the Government of Georgia and organised by the OECD together with the OSCE, the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative Georgia and USAID.
