How to purchase tests

A test distributor, such as an institution, organisation, government or others, will manage the purchasing process. Codes can be purchased by submitting a purchase order via email at cbt-support@etsglobal.org.  After receiving the completed form, the test distributor will contact the purchaser with information on how to submit payment for the purchase and sign the terms and conditions of use.

Once the payment has been received, the test administrator will send the log-in information for the online Administration Portal where the tests can be managed.  From the Administration Portal, a list of test authorisation codes can be downloaded to distribute to test takers.

How far in advance of administering the test does the test need to be purchased?

It is recommended to purchase test codes at least one month in advance of the anticipated testing date to ensure that there is sufficient time to complete the purchasing process and become familiar with the Administration Portal that test administrators will use to download test codes.

Do test codes expire?

After purchasing the codes, purchasers will have up to one year to use and distribute the codes.

How long do test takers have to complete the test?

An individual test code will expire 60 calendar days after the test taker answers the first question in the test.  This means that test takers will have 60 days to complete all the modules.  Once an authorisation code has expired, the test taker will not be able to access Education & Skills Online.

Do different language versions have to be purchased separately?

No, purchasers do not need to purchase language versions separately or specify the language version of the test codes when purchasing the codes.  The purchaser determines the language of the test code before distributing the test codes to individual test takers.  A code may be used with any language version.

How long will the test take?

The estimated time needed to take the core module is 65 minutes. The core module consists of the background questionnaire and the literacy and numeracy assessments. All of the other modules are optional. The entire test is expected to take 120 minutes (this incluldes the core literacy and numeracy assessment, reading components and problem solving in technology-rich environments, and the non-cognitive assessments.)

What are the system requirements for the test?

To take the test, you must have a computer that meets the following requirements:

  • Operating Systems: Windows 8 or Mac OSX version 10.11
  • Internet Access
  • Browser: Firefox – most current version or one version older than most current
