Ministerial Meeting 2012: Trade - Towards a more open trading system and job-rich growth

Multilateral trade - including trade in services - can boost inclusive growth and create jobs, so why are governments moving towards regional and bilateral trade agreements? And what can be done to stem the tide of protectionism?

The Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, Waldemar Pawlak, will lead the ministers’ discussions on what they can do to bring all countries on board, encouraging them to open markets and implement complementary policies for inclusive employment and income growth.

Initiatives by OECD and other organizations to quantify trade and its value, the benefits of opening markets, and the impact of restricting trade in services will contribute to trade policies that promote growth and employment.
