L. Alan Winters is Chief Economist at the British government's Department for International Development (DFID) and Professor of Economics in the University of Sussex.

 

From 2004 to 2007 he was Director of the Development Research Group of the World Bank.

 

He is editor of The World Trade Review. He is one of the world's leading specialists on the empirical and policy analysis of international trade and has published over two hundred articles and thirty books.
