Xavier Matheu de Cortada, European Training Foundation, Head, Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Unit

 

Xavier Matheu holds degrees in geography and history and followed postgraduate studies in social education and in-company training management. For 14 years he worked at Fundació CIREM (Barcelona, Spain), where he was director of the International Centre. He worked on technical assistance projects in the fields of VET reform, employment services, local development and the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises under Phare, Meda, Tacis and other bilateral and multilateral programmes. He also has experience in applied research projects and training, including e-learning. From 2002 to 2004 he was the director of a EUMEDIS project developing ICT solutions for Mediterranean SMEs. The project had activities in eight Mediterranean partner countries and a network of more than 15 partners.

Xavier Matheu has acquired experience in all phases of the project cycle, from needs identification to project design, bridging technical assistance, tendering procedures, management, monitoring and evaluation. In 2004, he joined the European Training Foundation (ETF) where he became country manager for Ukraine.

In 2006 and 2007 he was the Regional coordinator of the ETF work in pre-accession countries (Western Balkans and Turkey).

Since January 2008 he is the Head of the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit in ETF and Member of its Management Team.
