18-19 November 2020 Zoom
The 2020 annual meeting of the OECD-INFE Technical Assistance Project on Financial Education in South East Europe (SEE) focused on Financial Education for Children and Young People in the New Digital Reality. The two-day meeting, held on-line, discussed financial education policy development and implementation for youth; underlying challenges and good practices in the SEE region and beyond. The event brought together officials, practitioners and experts on financial education from South-East Europe and other OECD countries.
- Day 1 set the scene by examining financial literacy levels of young people in the region, and the related financial education challenges brought about by the current COVID-19 crisis. It will also discuss the role of financial education in enhancing financial wellbeing of young people in the region in the medium to long term. Speakers and participants from OECD and SEE countries will share good practice examples of evidence-based financial education policies and programmes promoting financial literacy core competencies, implemented outside of and as part the formal education curriculum.
- Day 2 was dedicated to exploring new ways of reaching children and young people, leveraging digital technologies and other innovative means. Speakers will be invited to reflect on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the delivery of financial education to youth, and provide relevant examples of the adaptation of financial education policy design and provision to the new reality.
The annual meeting was co-hosted by the OECD and Romania, with the support of the Netherlands Ministry of Finance. |
