SEE Annual Meeting on Consumer Finance and Financial Literacy in the Digital Age

 24-25 November 2021 | 11:00-14:00 (CET)  Via Zoom

The 2021 Annual Meeting of the OECD-INFE Technical Assistance Project on Financial Education in South East Europe (SEE) took a look at the opportunities and challenges related to consumer finance issues and financial literacy in the digital age, in order to distil policy options and good practices relevant to project countries.

The two-day meeting, held on-line, brought together officials, practitioners and experts on financial education from South-East Europe and OECD countries to discuss:

  • Day 1: consumer trends in access to and use of digital financial services
  • Day 2:  good practices on digital financial education delivery.
  • A practical workshop on the second day will complement the in-depth discussions on these topics and examine: (i) experiences in developing and using Internet websites and national one-stop-shop platforms for financial education; (ii) digital content development considering target group needs, trainers capacity and behavioural nudges; and (iii) the role and experiences of the private sector, not-for-profit organisations and academia with digital financial education.

COVID-19 related issues and policy implications will be touched upon in presentations and discussions on both days.

The meeting is an opportunity to foster regional knowledge exchange and offer networking opportunities thanks to dedicated sessions on South-East Europe (SEE) trends and experiences, break-out sessions to delve deeper in respective challenges and achievements and through interaction during question and answer sessions. Presentations and discussions of the project’s achievements and next steps will enable participating countries to steer future work and shape the project in a way that increases its relevance and impact.

The annual meeting was co-hosted by the OECD and the Ministry of Finance of Bulgaria. It is held in the context of the OECD-INFE Project on Financial Education in South East Europe, carried out with the support of the Netherlands’ Ministry of Finance.
