 Ambassador, Permanent Delegation of Greece to the OECD

 

Ambassador Nikolaos Tatsos took up his duties as Permanent Representative of Greece to the OECD on 14 January 2008.


Born in 1950, Mr. Tatsos received a Masters Degree in Financial Economics from the University of Wales in 1976 and pursued doctoral studies in Economics at the same university in 1978. His doctoral thesis was in the field of taxation and economic stabilisation.


Mr. Tatsos was economic advisor to the Minister of Finance (during the periods 1982 to 1986 and 2004 to 2007) and chaired various committees for the reform of the Greek tax system.

 

He has been a member of the OECD Committee on Fiscal Affairs and a member of European Union committees dealing with fiscal issues (Economic Policy Committee, Budgetary Committee, Fiscal Policy Committee) and of the Council of Europe.

 

From 1997 to 2001 Mr. Tatsos served as vice chair of the Greek Centre for Planning and Economic Research.

 

He has been a member of the board of Economic Experts and from 1996 to 1999 he chaired the Board of Directors at the training centre of the Hellenic Ministry of Finance, while from 2000 to 2003 he chaired the board of Directors of the Organisation for Tourism Education and Training. He has also participated in the Board of Directors of three public entities.

 

Mr. Tatsos is an author of ten books in the field of public finance and has contributed a large number of articles in scientific publications.
