    Policy Review of Dutch Humanitarian Assistance, 2009-2014

    The overall objective for Dutch humanitarian assistance is to contribute to the relief of life-threatening human needs among the most vulnerable people caused by crisis situations and natural disasters. Between 2009 and 2014, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spent a total of EUR 1.6 billion on humanitarian assistance. This report presents the summary of an evaluation on the Netherlands’ humanitarian assistance policy.

    Independent Verification and Evaluation of the End Child Marriage Programme: Ethiopia

    The End Child Marriage Programme is well-received both by communities and government. In many cases, its progress towards outputs, has outreached milestones and targets. In spite of these successes, some changes to the programme approach and logframe are needed if outcomes and impacts are to be reached and sustained. The current programme results framework does not represent some vital areas of the programme work.

    Gender sense & sensitivity – Policy evaluation on women’s rights and gender equality 2007-2014

    The evaluation found that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has struggled with mainstreaming the equal rights for women and men principle into development aid policies. The report calls for increasing gender sensitivity, for analysing women’s specific constraints, needs and priorities. It underlines the importance of a long-term commitment to gender equality coupled with a sensible dose of realism on what effectively can be accomplished.

    Evaluation of Norwegian Multilateral Support to Basic Education

    The evaluation assesses Norwegian multilateral support to basic education through UNICEF and the Global Partnership for Education. It looks at development aid effectiveness, aid management and financing of education in: Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Haiti, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal and Zambia. The emphasis was put on three education goals: quality of learning, gender and inclusion of marginalised groups.

    Peace and Development in Finland´s Development Cooperation- Country programme in Ethiopia

    This evaluation assesses how Finnish development cooperation in fragile states is contributing towards peace and security. The role of development policy as part of conflict prevention and peace mediation was included in the Programme of the Finnish Government in 2011.
