    Renewable energy – Policy review on the Dutch contribution to renewable energy and development 2004-2014

    At international level, renewable energy is increasingly seen as important for climate and for the availability of energy for domestic use. Thus there is a need for the Netherlands to have a clear vision on its renewable energy and development policy. Maintaining and further developing Dutch expertise and experience in this field is essential if the Netherlands intends to continue influencing the policy of inter/national organisations.

    Evaluation of Norwegian Multilateral Support to Basic Education

    The evaluation assesses Norwegian multilateral support to basic education through UNICEF and the Global Partnership for Education. It looks at development aid effectiveness, aid management and financing of education in: Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Haiti, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal and Zambia. The emphasis was put on three education goals: quality of learning, gender and inclusion of marginalised groups.

    Évaluation d’impact des foyers améliorés au Burkina Faso

    L’IOB a évalué dans cette étude l’impact de l’usage des foyers améliorés à des fins domestiques ainsi que pour le brassage de la bière artisanale dans deux villes du Burkina Faso. Si l’impact sur la charge de travail des femmes et sur la santé s’est révélé négligeable, les foyers améliorés permettent en revanche de réduire les dépenses d’énergie et d’économiser chaque année un large volume de bois de chauffe.

    Impact Evaluation of Improved Cooking Stoves in Burkina Faso - Newsletter

    IOB evaluated the impact of the use of fuel wood efficient stoves at household and at enterprise level as promoted by the improved cooking stoves programme in Burkina Faso. The results were published in the report Impact Evaluation on Improved Cooking Stoves in Burkina Faso.

    Impact Evaluation of Improved Cooking Stoves in Burkina Faso

    Over 500 million households worldwide rely on biomass for daily cooking. Wood energy is also used for small industrial processes. Fuel efficient cooking stoves are seen as low-cost solution to help reduce greenhouse gases, improve indoor air quality, relieve the daily workload of women and to reduce expenditure on energy.

    The Netherlands and the European Development Fund – Principles and Practices: Evaluation of Dutch involvement in EU development cooperation (1998-2012)

    This evaluation presents the findings of the policy evaluation of the Dutch involvement in European Development Cooperation with a focus on the European Development Fund and the Cotonou Agreement. Some of its main conclusions show that there is a growing convergence between EU aid policies and the key principles of Dutch aid and that the Dutch view on complementarity and added value of EU aid has changed quite frequently.

    Mid-term review of the cooperation programme between Luxembourg and Burkina Faso

    The result is a mitigated one: on the one hand, tripling the budget has increased the pressure on the effectiveness of the programs implementation. On the other hand, establishing a sector-wide approach has called for new implementation modalities, more complex and lengthier to be effective.
