Conference on Assessing the Implementation and Effectiveness of Systems for Disclosing Interests and Assets by Public Officials

   6-7 June 2017  Tbilisi, Georgia

The conference provided a forum for national stakeholders responsible for the management, implementation, enforcement, evaluation and impact assessment of interests and asset disclosures by public officials. The overall goal was to advance the upcoming OECD/ACN study on this topic and to allow for the identification of national and regional good practices. More specifically, the conference reviewed the deliverables of the existing systems for interests and asset disclosures by public officials and compared them against the objectives set for those systems initially, namely: 1) to prevent and sanction conflicts of interest; 2) monitor wealth variations of public officials and uncover illicit enrichment; and 3) promote transparency. The participants shared their practical experience and exchange innovative solutions.

The conference was co-organised by OECD, UNDP, the Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana and Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) and hosted by the Civil Service Bureau of Georgia.
