Global Forum on Tax Transparency assists Morocco to implement automatic exchange of financial accounts information
In the framework of the pilot project between Morocco, France and the Secretariat of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (the Global Forum), a one-day sensitisation seminar was held, on 16 April 2019, in Rabat. The purpose of the seminar was to raise awareness among the government authorities and financial institutions representatives on the international standard automatic exchange of financial accounts information (the AEOI Standard) and its implications and opportunities for Morocco. This seminar was attended by 22 participants.
On 17 and 18 April 2019, a two-day workshop was held with various government authorities to help Morocco draft its AEOI legal framework.
The AEOI pilot project, which was launched in April 2018, is a partnership between the General Directorate of Taxes of Morocco (Direction Générale des Impôts), the General Directorate of Public Finances of France (Direction Générale des Finances Publiques) and the Global Forum Secretariat.
The technical assistance provided by the Global Forum is funded by the programme “Improving Connectivity in the Maghreb” of the Deauville Partnership's MENA Transition Fund.
