The Global Forum continues to support Kenya to fight against cross-border tax evasion

 

9/12/2019 - A team from the Global Forum Secretariat (Mr. Ervice Tchouata, Ms. Irene Bashabe and Ms. Nana Mensah) delivered a four-day training seminar (3 – 6 December 2019) in Nairobi, Kenya for the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) on the theme “Exchange of information from and auditor’s perspective”.

The training at the Kenya School of monetary studies was attended by 28 officials from various KRA departments (Domestic Tax, Investigation and enforcement, Corporate policy Unit, Intelligence and Strategic Operations) including auditors, staffs working in the exchange of information (EOI) office, transfer pricing, risk management and High Networth Individual. The training was aimed at equipping KRA’s officials with the skills for utilising the EOI tools through the identification of the need for a foreign tax information and the drafting of a request for information in accordance with the international standard. This is the second training the Global Forum Secretariat facilitates in Kenya in 2019 to support the KRA’s new strategy of improving the fight against cross-border tax evasion through Exchange of Information. The first seminar was held in Naivasha on 4 – 6 June and was attended by over 30 officials from KRA.
