Switzerland invests more than the mean of other countries in education. The most recent international figures available show that, in 2001, taking all levels of education together, it spent USD 8800 for each child at school or adult student. The OECD mean is USD 6200. Electricity reform figures prominently in Swiss proposals for promoting stronger economic growth, which has lagged other OECD countries over the last decade. It figures on the list of actions- drawn up both by the Swiss Federal authorities and the OECD in its recent economic surveys of Switzerland- to strengthen the Swiss internal market and improve competitiveness.
