OECD Workshop on One-Stop Shops in Hungary

Budapest, 26-27 February 2013

‌The interactive workshop brought together over 80 officials from government district offices and central ministries to identify key challenges in the design and implementation of one-stop shops in Hungary and ways to address them. Participants had an opportunity to draw on lessons learnt from the experience in Austria, Germany and Portugal in developing and implementing virtual and physical one-strop shops at the national and local levels.

Participants identified a number of outstanding challenges, including:

Strengthening horizontal and vertical co-ordination and communication;
Improving co-ordination with the ongoing administrative simplification programme;
Clarifying and targeting training content and curriculum for front office and back office staff;
Improving and testing IT hardware and software.

This workshop is part of an integrated modular approach to providing advice on developing and implementing one-stop shops in Hungary. Insights from this workshop will feed into an analysis conducted by the OECD to provide recommendations to the Government of Hungary on strengthening one-stop shops, with a particular focus on project management and planning, human resources and customers service, IT and administrative simplification.

This workshop is also part of the OECD-Hungary Strategic Partnership for Public Administration Reform supporting the Government of Hungary in putting in place some of the key building blocks of a Strategic State, including strategic vision, planning and implementation, administrative simplification and one-stop shops, and the fight against corruption.
