Indicators of Regulatory Policy and Governance for Latin America

Based on the established OECD methodology, the Indicators of Regulatory Policy and Governance (iREG) for Latin America 2022 provide an up-to-date overview of regulatory systems in selected Latin American countries, by which they develop, implement and evaluate regulations. LAC iREG 2022 is the third wave of the survey conducted in the region. iREG 2016 covered 7 LAC countries, iREG 2019 covered 10 countries, and iREG 2022 covers 11 countries, which includes updated data from countries previously surveyed in 2016 and 2019. Regulatory Governance formed a key chapter of the publication Government at a Glance Latin America and the Caribbean 2024.

The Indicators cover three principles of the 2012 OECD Recommendation on Regulatory Policy and Governance

  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Ex ante regulatory impact assessment (RIA)
  • Ex post evaluation of regulations
