OECD and Yucatan: international workshop to enhance the business environment

 

Merida, Yucatan, 19 June 2019

 

This workshop aimed at identifying the main achievements and challenges for the Government of the State of Yucatan. In particular, generating simpler regulations and formalities that promotes businesses creation, innovation and inclusive growth. The workshop took place at the National Chamber of Industry Development and Housing Promotion, CANADEVI, where the OECD invited experts from the Government of Catalonia, Spain, and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, to share their experience on better regulation, simplification and digitalisation of procedures.

Over 60 people attended the workshop, including officials from the Government of the State of Yucatan, municipal governments, academics, experts and representatives of chambers and business associations.

 

The main topics were:

  • Administrative simplification and digitalisation to enhance the business environment
  • Design and implementation of the better regulation policy in Yucatan

In January 2019, the OECD and the Government of the State of Yucatan signed an agreement to carry out the implementation of the recommendations on administrative simplification and regulatory policy. The workshop was part of the activities of this project.
